Our Mission
SRD Straightening Reins is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving youth and family mental health through equine-assisted psychotherapy and supportive community programs. Since 2011, we have provided a safe, nonjudgmental ranch environment where young people build resilience, confidence, and emotional awareness through guided work with our rescue herd, grounded in the EAGALA model. Through therapy and community outreach, we equip families with the tools, education, and resources they need to navigate mental health challenges before crisis.
Our Vision
Our vision is a community where every young person has access to effective alternatives for mental
health treatment and solutions that build resilience and strengthen healthy relationships. We strive to
reduce the number of youth facing emotional distress, isolation, and crisis by expanding innovative,
relationship-based care that meets them where they are. Through equine-assisted experiences, we
aim to create pathways to stability, confidence, and lasting well-being for youth and their families.
